Q. Why should I book a professional makeup artist when I can do my makeup myself for my event/wedding or have my friend/relative do it for free?
A. I want you to be completely happy with how you look on your big day. If you feel you are completely competent, then go for it! If any of these following statements apply to you, I would recommend hiring a professional:
Q. What makeup brands do you use?
A. I carry a large variety of brands in my kit. I carry many items from prestigious brands, such as MAC, Marc Jacobs, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Makeup For Ever, Laura Mercier, etc. I also carry a few greatly loved products (such as my favorite mascara!) from more affordable brands, such as NYX and L'Oreal Paris. I use what I know to work best! In my kit, you will also see many products from brands created specifically for industry professionals that you may not recognize, such as RCMA, Embryolisse, Mehron, Makeup Atelier Paris, and Cinema Secrets.
Q. Are you familiar working with mature/delicate skin?
A. Yes! I also carry specific professional skin care and makeup items formulated for mature skin to produce the best result possible.
Q. Will my mascara/eyeliner run if I cry?
A. Nope! I prepare for this, especially with my bridal clients! I only use waterproof mascara and eyeliner.
Q. Can I get a discount? Are your prices negotiable?
A. Nope ! When it comes to hiring a professional makeup artist for makeup services, you definitely get what you pay for! When you hire me, you are hiring an experienced professional that comes to YOU for your wedding/special event. The level of skill and expertise that you can expect is far superior to hiring your relative, friend or a cosmetic sales-person from the mall. You will be looking back on your wedding photos for a lifetime...let me ensure that you will look flawless in them!
Q. Do you travel to me on my wedding day?
A. Absolutely! For travel rates, please see the rates listed at the bottom of my prices page.
Q. How long does it take you to do makeup on one person, from start to finish?
A. I book clients in 50-minute blocks, which gives me adequate time to complete their total makeup look and prepare my station for the next client. I always book the bride in a full one-hour block. Flower girls can usually be finished in 10 minutes.
Q. How large of a bridal party can you accommodate?
A. On average, the largest bridal party I will accommodate solo is 10 people. Depending on when the party needs to be ready by and when you are willing to start, I may be able to service more clients. At the client's request, I am able to bring a second artist with me to complete more applications or to shorten the getting ready time at an additional fee.
Q. I am worried that you might not carry my foundation/concealer shades or that you might not be able to match me correctly. Do I have a reason to be concerned?
A. I absolutely think your concern is legitimate, especially if you have had an experience where an artist failed to match you correctly in the past. I have experience working with all complexions, from the absolute palest to the deepest brown. You can rest assured that I will work to find your perfect shade match and only use makeup items that will flatter your complexion. Q. I've never worn false lashes before/I think they look intimidating! Do I have to wear them? Will they pull my eyelashes out?
A. Wearing false lashes on your wedding/event day is completely optional, but I do urge my clients to wear them! I offer lashes with all applications at no additional cost. I have different lash styles that I choose from and I will be sure to match you with one that is suitable for the makeup you want (from the most natural to the most dramatic!). False eyelashes elevate the overall makeup application and photograph beautifully. It is your big day after all, why not bring it up a notch?! Lastly, if removed gently and correctly, false eyelashes do not effect your natural lashes.
Q. Do you use airbrush makeup?
A. I actually do not! I prefer traditional makeup application, as I find it allows me to be the most versatile with my client's skin. Contrary to popular belief, if the skin is prepped correctly and the foundation is applied correctly, traditional makeup can last just as long and look just as beautiful as airbrush makeup.
Q. How long will my makeup last?
A. Your makeup will last all day (12+ hours). I use products designed to increase the longevity of the makeup application. I have had bridal clients at 7 a.m. and their makeup still looks flawless well into the reception. Minimal blotting and the reapplication of lip color is usually required. To help with this, I provide all bridal clients with a touch-up kit, including blotting sheets, lipstick applicators, and a sample of your lipstick color.
Q. Do I have to book a bridal trial?
A. Bridal trials are completely optional, but are highly recommended! Bridal trials allow me to get a better understanding of your exact expectations for your wedding day and to perfect the ideal makeup look you desire. Trials can also help give you peace of mind that you will know exactly what you'll be getting on your wedding day! I want to make sure you are completely satisfied.
Q. Do you have a client/payment minimum to book a wedding?
A. For all on-location events, I require a client minimum or the dollar amount equivalent of the bride + 4 clients. For weddings where the travel is equal to or more than 90 minutes one way, I require a client minimum or the dollar amount equivalent of the bride + 5 people. Flower girls do not count towards the client minimum.
Q. Can I bring my own makeup for you to use?
A. Because of sanitation and liability reasons, I am not able to use any makeup or tools that are not from my own kit.
Q. Why don't you answer Instagram/Facebook direct messages?
A. All of my information is available here on my website! A response via social media is not guaranteed as there is an overflow of messages and I oftentimes do not receive a notification that I have received a message on social media. To keep things professional on my end, I only discuss business matters over email and phone calls. The fastest and most efficient way to connect is via my email, email@example.com.
Q. Do you do hair as well?
A. I do not! However, I can recommend a local hairstylist to you, if you are interested.
